The Ugly Duckling
Mother Duck has found a strange egg amongst her duck eggs, which hatches into a most ugly duckling. The Ugly Duckling quickly finds that he has upset the strict social structure of the farmyard just by being different. When the taunting turns to violence the Ugly Duckling has to flee for his life. He faces a cruel test of survival all alone through the winter in the dangerous outside world. But eventually he discovers his own true nature.

The Gardener and the Family
Lars, the loyal and talented gardener has been tending the family's garden all of his life. His melons and strawberries win accolades from royal and aristocratic tables around the country. But the family cannot see the gardening genius they have under their noses and have nothing but constant criticism for the patient Lars.

Soup on a Sausage Peg
Down in the kitchen cellar the mice are celebrating their annual banquet with a magnificent feast of mouldy bread, rancid bacon and sour milk.  The Queen Mother has given the Mouse King an ultimatum. It is time for him to choose a wife from the three princesses present. Wracking his brains he proclaims that he will marry any mouse, royal or common, who brings him back from the wide world a recipe for Soup from a Sausage Peg. Did anyone just see him wink at the Kitchen Mouse as he said that.

The Travelling Companion
John sets off to see the world with his entire inheritance of twenty five silver coins and a dream of a beautiful princess. On his very first night away from home he gives all his money to coffin robbers so that they will leave a dead man rest in peace. Shortly afterwards he finds himself accompanied by a strange and wonderful travelling companion. Who is this strange man. And what does he know about the evil spell the beautiful princess is under.
